Bisqueware inspires creativity similar to an oil painter looking at a blank canvas. It’s usually a little exciting and maybe even a little intimidating. Artists of all types are generally understanding of the mixed emotions.

As with all professions, the world of ceramics has many unique terms. Here’s a little info about the bisque firing process. https://ceramicartsnetwork.org/ceramics-monthly/firing-techniques/electric-kiln-firing/bisque-firing-101/#

When I get new pieces from the bisque firing they’re usually still warm from the firing.  I place them on my slab roller for additional cooling. After that, I continue looking at each one….internally wondering what its final glazed design will be. This is a fun time for me! It is a playful activity full of potential.

I consider the possibilities; going over each one. Eventually, I have something of an ah-ha moment when I see, in my mind’s eye, what seems perfect.
